Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964 is a Danish actor. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At 27 years old when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from that school in 1995. He was also a part of The Killing's drama series. [1] He then played in Borgen III and Those Who Kill as well as Those Who Kill. Both were critically recognized Danish drama series. He also played a central part in the episode of BBC drama Sherlock where he played blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television show House of Cards he played the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish drama Herrens Veje. It was aired in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm
